Stage
2 classes work very
closely. Stage-based units exist in HSIE and Science. The students
study many aspects of Australia with particular reference to life in the early
days and the colonisation of Australia. An exciting excursion to Elizabeth Farm
and Experiment Farm was run with many students coming in period costume.
Count Me In Too strategies are used to promote an
understanding of the number strand in mathematics. In 2005, Count Me In
Measurement was introduced with a school facilitator assisting the teachers. The
students really enjoy this hands-on approach to learning. Recently, two classes participated in the mass
choir, a part of the Hills Music Festival. Other students had their debut
performance in the school’s Performing Band and junior dance troupe. The night
proved very entertaining with a wide variety of performances. Time is
set aside each week to develop specific
computer skills. A focus in Stage 2 classes is for students to improve their
word processing skills and understanding of PowerPoint and Kid Pix programs.
